The Walton County Economic Development Alliance (WCEDA)

The Walton County Economic Development Alliance (WCEDA) is a public/private partnership serving the Greater Walton County Area whose mission is to establish Walton County as a great place to grow businesses, attract new investment, and create quality jobs.

The organization was founded in August 2008 by Walton County Board of County Commissioners, City of DeFuniak Springs, City of Freeport, City of Paxton, and the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce, as the Walton County Economic Development Alliance.

THE WCEDA is a 501c (6) non-profit organization, housed in and managed by, the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce but guided and lead by the WCEDA Board of Directors. The Board is made up of a diverse group of community leaders from a broad range of private/public organizations.

Vision Statement

The vision for WCEDA is to grow a vibrant and sustainable economy for all of Walton County that creates nationally and globally competitive advantages for the development of key industry clusters, increases the income and prosperity of workers and families, ensures healthy communities and a vibrant quality of life, and preserves the natural beauty and resources of the area.

Mission Statement

To be Walton County's driving force for a collaborative leadership, leveraged by public and private members, working to retain and attract businesses, promote sustainable development, address infrastructure challenges and improve quality of life.

Our Focus

The following areas of focus are not in order of priority:

Create a branding campaign for all of Walton County to attract, retain, and expand business
Find solutions to address Walton County infrastructure challenges
Retain business and jobs, encouraging business investment and helping businesses contribute to the quality of life in Walton County
Increase public awareness and understanding of Walton County and regional growth issues
Provide economic and demographic data for Walton County
Provide business-to-government forums
Promote Walton County as a prime location to grow local, national, and international business
Address Transportation needs for the Greater Walton Area
Attract and retaining talent in Walton County
Embrace innovation and industry in Walton County
Improving the Quality of Place in Walton County
Provide resources and training for existing business retention
Identify, promote, and cultivate all the industrial and commercial properties within Walton County
Embrace and encourage emerging leaders to live, play and stay in Walton County
Provide workforce housing resources, information, and portal for Walton County residents and visitors

Increase quality business and economic development activity in Walton County
Ensure the competitiveness of Walton County's business climate
Offer competitive business parks and sites
Attract quality business locations and expansions
Create quality jobs and lifestyle choices for current and future residents
