MIKE MORRIS BIO

After attending Wabash Valley Community College and Illinois State University, Mike began a career in the apparel business. He relocated from Illinois to DeFuniak Springs, Florida in 1978 and was with Continental Apparel for 20 years. During this time, Mike advanced from Plant Manager to Senior Vice President developing his people skills, planning and scheduling abilities, and business leadership skills. He was responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing business for domestic and foreign production. In 1998, he utilized his planning and leadership skills to coordinate all foreign and domestic production for Wisney L.L.C., a major blue jean manufacturer in Opp, Alabama. In 2005, Mike moved from the apparel industry to the utility construction industry as Chief Operating Officer for Chelco Services, Inc. This career move has presented a tremendous opportunity for Mike to utilize his leadership abilities for a local growing company and to also become more involved in serving the local community. Mike and his wife Pat have lived in DeFuniak Springs since 1978. They have 2 grown sons and 3 grandchildren. Mike’s community involvement includes many years coaching little league, and he is active in Kiwanis Club, Boys And Girls Club, and Habitat For Humanity. Mike is a graduate of leadership Walton. He serves on the council for BUILD, a community wide mentorship program, and also serves as a BUILD mentor. He enjoys hiking, fishing, and music.
